Five Star listings are companies with a perfect published average of 5.0 — every review, without exception, at the top of the scale. It is an impressive record and, in the clearance sector, a reasonably common one, because most of these firms are small owner-operated businesses whose customers come through recommendation and who ask for a review only when they already know the job went well.
Treat a perfect score as a strong positive signal and then look immediately at the review count. Five stars from four reviews and five stars from a hundred and forty are entirely different claims. The first tells you a small number of people were delighted; the second tells you a business has maintained an unbroken standard across years of difficult work. Both belong in this band, so the number printed beside the score on each card is doing a lot of the real work.
Small, highly rated firms are frequently the best possible choice for hoarding clearances. The owner usually attends personally, the same faces return each day, and decisions are made on site without escalation. That continuity matters enormously when someone is watching their possessions leave their home. Reviews for these companies commonly use words like respectful, patient, non-judgemental and discreet — exactly the qualities that determine whether a clearance goes well or ends in distress.
The trade-off is capacity. A perfect-scoring two-van operation may be booked several weeks ahead, may not work weekends, and may decline very large properties or jobs requiring specialist handling. If you are working to a court deadline, a tenancy end date or a safeguarding timetable, ask about availability in your first conversation rather than after you have set your heart on a particular firm.
Do the verification anyway. A flawless average is not evidence of registration, insurance or legal disposal, and a small proportion of perfect profiles are inflated by reviews from friends, family or paid sources. Genuine profiles show varied writing styles, specific job details, dates spread across months and years, and occasional replies from the owner. A cluster of short, generic five-star reviews all posted in the same week is a reason to look more closely, not less.
Each listing here records whether a matching registered company was found, along with the company number and registered address where available, so you can confirm that the trading name corresponds to a real legal entity. Add proof of upper-tier waste carrier registration, public liability insurance, an itemised written quote and waste transfer notes on completion, and a five-star listing becomes what it should be: a well-evidenced choice rather than a leap of faith.
